Superman has always been my favorite superhero. He was perfect. Adept. He never had to prove himself to anyone, or try hard to do what everyone around him seemed capable of doing. Because of who he was, he was exemplary, and everyone around him knew it.
When you have undiagnosed mental health conditions, a lot of the symptoms you might present are often misunderstood as character defects. You aren't motivated enough. You are disruptive. Lazy. There are a ton of faults that fall on your shoulders, and if you go on hearing them long enough, you start to believe them.
Super defect was my first silly drawing I made in adulthood. It was also the first time I used colored pencils, or anything, to add color to a drawing. Around this time is when I was finally finding my feet as a capable professional, after a lifetime of living with undiagnosed ADHD. I realized I didn't have to be Superman to be exemplary. I could be a Super Defect.
